3 ways to use essential oils:
- Topically: Apply a few drops directly on your skin and rub it in. Some oils work best when combined with a carrier oil such as coconut oil, almond oil, or jojoba oil. This method helps promote quick absorption, immune support, and immediate comfort.
- Aromatically: Use a diffuser to spread the essential oil into the air. You may also rub a few drops of oil in the palm of your hands and inhale. This method helps with mood, opens airways, and protects against environmental threats.
- Internally: Place 1 to 2 drops under the tongue or mix in water and drink. You can also place the drops in an empty capsule (available at most health foods stores) and swallow. Always read oil bottle label to ensure the oil can be used this way. This method helps support digestive issues, comforts the mouth and throat, and supports the immune system.
How To Dilute Essential Oils for Topical Use:
Diluting essential oils helps to ensure you don’t experience any skin irritation and helps to drive the essential oil into the skin versus evaporating into the air. Dilution doesn’t weaken the effectiveness of essential oil. To dilute, choose a carrier oil (fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, grapeseed oil for example) then add drops of essential oil to it according to the age of the user. - 3-12 months old: 1-3 drops in a 10ml roller bottle (0.5-1% dilution)
- 1-7 years old: 3-9 drops in a 10ml roller bottle (1-3% dilution)
- 8-15 years old: 9-15 drops in a 10ml roller bottle (3-5% dilution)
- 16+ years old: 15-30+ drops in a 10ml roller bottle (5-10+% dilution)
